Ulin posts are known for their exceptional durability and strength, making them highly prized in construction and architecture. The wood features a dense, tight grain that can be straight, interlocked or wavy, with a smooth texture and a rich, deep brown to reddish-brown color that darkens over time. Ulin's hardness and weight contribute to its resistance to rot, pests, and weathering. It's commonly used in heavy construction like bridges and buildings, as well as for durable furniture and boat building, thanks to its resilience and longevity. 

Ulin is found primarily in Kalimantan (Borneo), Sumatra, and parts of Sulawesi. It grows in lowland tropical rainforests. Ulin is used for heavy-duty construction, outdoor applications, flooring, bridges, railway sleepers, and boat building.
