With sintered stone it's essential to understand the following technical specifications to ensure they meet your project's requirements:
1. Slip Resistance (R-Rating): This measures a tile's ability to prevent slips, especially in wet conditions, and is crucial for safety in areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
- R9: Low slip resistance; suitable for dry, low-traffic areas
- R10: Moderate slip resistance; appropriate for general indoor use
- R11: High slip resistance; ideal for areas prone to moisture
- R12 – R13: Very high slip resistance; used in commercial or industrial settings
2. PEI Rating (Porcelain Enamel Institute Rating): This assesses the durability and abrasion resistance of a tile's glazed surface, guiding its suitability for various applications.
- PEI 1: Suitable only for wall applications; not recommended for floors
- PEI 2: Appropriate for light traffic residential areas, such as bathrooms
- PEI 3: Suitable for all residential floors and walls
- PEI 4: Ideal for residential and light commercial use
- PEI 5: Designed for heavy commercial areas with high foot traffic
Understanding these specifications will help you choose the appropriate tile for your specific needs, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functional performance.
