The electrostatic lightning rod is an advanced lightning protection device designed to intercept lightning strikes over a wider protection area. Unlike conventional air terminals, it uses a specially engineered head that generates an early upward streamer during storm conditions, increasing the likelihood of capturing a lightning strike before it reaches the structure.

Installed at the highest point of a building and connected to a down conductor and grounding system, the rod safely directs lightning energy into the earth. Its extended protection radius makes it suitable for protecting larger areas with fewer air terminals.

BBS supplies Kurn electrostatic lightning rods, including the Kurn R80 and Kurn R150 models. The R80 is commonly used for villas and medium-sized buildings, while the R150 is designed for larger structures requiring a wider protection radius.

Note: The lightning rod intercepts the lightning strike, but the effectiveness of the system depends primarily on a properly installed grounding system and down conductor.
